ALEX HAD A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT TESTING AT NUTTS CORNER
On Saturday 4th April, the weekend before the start of the Formula Stars British Championship, Alex was testing at Nutts Corner and due to component failure he crashed and was tossed into the air like a rag doll and the kart proceeded to land on top of him breaking his right arm in two places. Three weeks later he has had the full arm cast removed and has a bit more flexibility with the half arm cast. When asked if the accident would put him off karting he laughed and said "it was actually quite exciting until the bloody kart landed on top of me - it's only a broken arm for God's sake!!!". He is very frustrated that he will miss a number of races in the two main British Championships - Super 1's and Formula Stars - but is determined to get back as soon as possible.

NORTHERN IRELAND UPDATE
EXTRACT FROM U.K. KARTING MAGAZINE JUNE ISSUE Dublin's Alex Hamilton, although he has only raced for a year or so he has already shown strong form in his trips across to Scotland and England and from the off Hamilton showed what he is made of with two superb race wins. Local competition was intense though from Jason Dickson and multiple champion Scott Finlay which meant that Hamilton really had to keep up his fast pace and on the second day he did just that with another win, a 2nd. and a 5th. However, Dickson also piled on the pressure and on the second day both drivers had added equal points to their total. In the end it couldn't have been closer as the count back showed Hamilton's earlier wins to be crucial and that was enough to see him secure the Ulster Championship trophy with Dickson 2nd. and Finlay 3rd.
HAMILTON ON TOP AT NUTTS CORNER
Article from N.i News Letter, 5th May, 2008: DUBLIN'S Alex Hamilton really laid down the law on Saturday's round of the Ulster Cup Kart Racing series at Nutts Corner, writes JOHN BELSHAW. Young Hamilton has been taking on various championship rounds of recent and the increase in his pace was very apparent when he came home to win by over five seconds from best placed local Scott Finley from Stoneyford. Young Finlay had a tough race of his own with Drumquin's Jason Dickson and in the end he managed to hold off with less than 0.1 seconds to spare. Although Hamilton is not currently taking on all of the Ulster Cup series with a win like Saturday's and a big win in the Ulster Championships at Easter he is certainly giving the local top drivers a hard time of things. In the 125cc Rotax Max Class, Dungiven's Chris Irwin also stormed through to victory by just over two seconds from Ballymoney's Aaron Roper. The second place by Roper still keeps him very much in the championship hunt after winning the April round of the series. Third on the day was Irwin's team mate Martin McLaughlin, also from Dungiven.
HAMILTON REVS UP FOR PROMISING CAREER
Article from Southside People, April 9 THE name Hamilton is one of the most talked about in Formula One circles just now. Lewis Hamilton has made a huge name for himself after exploding onto the Formula One scene in 2007. Those who have been watching his career closely will know that he was recognised around the age of 10 when he raced karts and specifically cadets. Well now you are advised to watch out for another kart racing driver with the surname Hamilton. Alex Hamilton, from Foxrock, has been racing for over a year and is steadily improving all the time. The week before last, Alex hit the big time in the North when he scooped the first major title of the year, the Ulster Championships. Last season the South Dublin youngster showed great potential and everyone knew that a big win was just around the corner. A few trips across to England and Scotland though have shown that the winning potential is there at a higher level, and with such improved pace as a result, he was worth watching at the Nutts Corner Motorsports Centre, Country Antrim. The circuit is well known as a real drivers
